If you are single you could just about cope with the furniture allowance. If you have a family no way, unless you ship a lot of stuff from home. Prices for furniture have rocketed up here (along with everything else) and the furniture allowance, erm, hasn't. I think it is the same now it was 5 years ago and it was inadequate to kit out a villa then.
The furniture EK provide isn't top of the range but it is better than Ikea and should last a bit longer. I would take the furniture and bring some stuff from home. Then replace the EK stuff bit by bit.
