Give yourself a pay rise

Give yourself a pay rise!

Are you happy with the imposed change in pay and conditions?
Does it please you to be threatened by NR re upcoming negotiations of Housing and Rostering? Threats of 3 man ULH ?
Are you happy with your pay cut of 25% in inflation adjusted terms coupled with a large increase in productivity since 2001? The Company are definitely very happy.
NR has done a great hatchet job – literally.

Numbers are always good. NR likes numbers. Kim Jong Phil likes numbers, and although I don’t do calculus in my spare time, I like numbers, especially when they come in a nice table labeled “EFP Jan to Dec” and the rest of the article in CN.

Consider this when your next roster comes out.

Are we short of crew?

Well, CC tell me they are short of every category. They should know.

It’s obvious from the table on page 7 that EVERYONE is doing EFP every month on average throughout the year. As NR says, ‘If we could hire more crew than budgeted we would be able to bring forward the introduction of new services’. Then ‘If we fail to meet recruitment targets we will have to defer the introduction of new services’.

Last year 85 pilots retired/resigned/lost license. What’s changed this year?? We’ve all had another pay cut (in real terms) effective 1 Jan 2008. Thanks. DEFO’s on the pax fleet have had a substantial cut to their initial pay…Thanks again.
North American Freighter F/O’s had no meaningful improvement in pay and are likely to continue leaving (NR “Sadly we lost XX capable pilots and we recognize that we have to work harder to improve the lot of the Freighter crew”…BOLLOCKs – empty platitudes and lies- why put such garbage in print.)
Other airlines are INCREASING salaries.
Junior officers at CX are facing substantial increases in time to command. There are approx 2250 pilots, 800 Captains and 1450 Junior ranks. If YOU join at seniority 2251 tomorrow and commands are issued at 90 per year, how many years to Command, given you must wait for every other ‘non captain’ in front of you to upgrade first ?? Do the math. Oh great ST “increasing the retirement age won’t alter command time”…. Garbage!!

Do I need to mention complete lack of basing opportunities for large numbers of us, pollution in HK, concrete boxes we live in……Cat B, Cat D…tRAINING with a small t Checking with a big C…

There's no question more crew are going to leave this year than last year.

NR “Draw your own conclusion”. I believe CX will have no choice but to roster us collectively as close to the maximum as possible. The alternative is under utilize aircraft and fly less sectors
(and put back expansion of services) Since when is a comparative shortage of Crew a reason to underutilize aircraft – especially with such modest expansion?

More crew leaving this year, more aircraft, more sectors…we are going to be tight on Crew.

Now what can YOU do about this
