That's how I "got the itch", by utilising the Work Experience opportunity in my holidays.
It was 6 days (i think) at Tullamarine with TAA, just as they were changing to "Australian Airlines" and the new B737s.
Last day when I arrived at 6;30, in my cheesy grey business suite
the Manager looking after me (Tony Tante) asked if I'd ever been flying before... I hadn't so we quickly paced off to a boarding gate while he halted the gate closer and shoved me on a B727 jump seat... next thing I remember was looking down at all the black cows in the green paddocks, in a turn after takeoff... it was a buzz and a great way to cap-off the week.
I haven't looked back since... well... maybe once or twice
