It has something to due with the insurance. Years ago the F/O's did taxi the aircraft but than we had a little incident and now the F/O's are not allowed to taxi anymore. Not even with a trainer sitting in the LHS.
First go you get a taxing the aircraft is during the upgrade from the RHS to the LHS.
