At BHX we have not been informed of any aircraft reductions in terms of units as a result of our merger with FCA. Indeed, they have not yet decided how to market the two companys post AOC merger on May 1 st although, the flight deck crews will be able to fly together.
As for the 762 's at TOM, we owned some and have wanted to get rid of them for some time, finding a buyer has not been easy until Silverjet came along and their sale has got nothing to do with loco airlines taking our business and therefore the aircraft being too big.The routes i flew these aircraft on last summer were almost always full with 290 seats. Finding a buyer has been their demise from Thomson along with them being old in the tooth.This Winter they have been configured with 238 seats for longhaul.
I would n't be surprised if in the future they did reduce some capacity as a result of the merger.The airline trade is cyclical and expansion will come.
