Looking at the i.t charter flights for 2008 at bhx the merger with tcx/air shows 1 less based aircraft and no L/H flights from bhx also the fca/tom shows also 1 less based aircraft t/b/c , plus no bmi charter at weekends and from oct the xl/air malta is withdrawn from bhx.
This may be why bhx need ryanair to fill a approx 10% loss in pax in 2008.
