The issue with 757s is wing span. Some time ago the stands were remarked so more props could be squeeze in further along the pier. BA stated at the time the largest aircraft scheduled in future would be a 321.
They were actually remarked to fit more 737's along the domestic side for easyjet. Stand 3 was shrunk slightly to make stands 5 and 6 capable of fitting 737-700s for ezy.
