I liked this bit from The Australian the best:
Qantas has told workers it had no choice but to cancel the leave because
it could not risk running short-staffed. It described the industrial action as being timed to coincide with the holiday period "to cause maximum inconvenience to our customers".
Why would management worry about running "short staffed" now! They appear to have made it into an art form everywhere else in Qantas!
