Gentlefolk, as an ATC and amateur spanner weilder I have nothing but admiration for your skill and professionalism.
I have recently returned to the coal face after a short stint as an ATC supervisor and my experiences over the last year raise a question.
Do your supervisors have the ability to over rule you on these maintanance logs?
ATC supervisors can overrule certain faults and give an ATC a "legal instruction" to continue with a procedure even when a fault/flaw has been identified.
It is their call and they carry the responsibility but they know that the controllers will "make it work".
Can they do this to you guys?
I wish you every success in your negotiations, we will be negotiating a new EBA over the next year and believe me we are watching closely.
I don't know what support we can offer other than moral.
