Do you have any sense when the ground school requirements might change for us. Would seem wise to wait if something is imminent.
Knowing my luck, probably a few days after I have passed the last written test!

Serious though, I know that AOPA has put a lot of work into getting revised requirements for the groundschool/written stuff and that things may well change in due course.

However looking back on the amount of time that has passed and the various options that were going to become available 'in the near future' I have decided to crack on and get it over and done with.

Most people that have done the written stuff say that it is not particularly difficult more a matter of finding the time to do it and sit the exams.

If you have an IMC and a fair few hours of logged IFR time you could consider doing the FAA IR first. The writtens for that are not difficult and as far as the flying goes, in your particular case, you would only need the 3 hours brush up before the flight test so you can get signed off and the flight test itself to get the FAA IR.

You can then do the JAR writtens and for the flying you will only have to do the 15 hours conversion before you are eligible to do the test.
