I have spent the last 2 weeks reading all the posts regarding the IMCr and Ir and the EASA plans for losing national ratings.
As an IMCr with 50 or so hours of instrument time I am not keen to lose this valuable asset and I am considering the PPL/IR route and have been looking at distance learning for the IR. I am impressed by the campaign to save the IMCr or have an EASA equivalent but I am not optimistic.
Much has been said about a possible reduction in the ground school requirement for PPL doing IR ground work including info on some of the IR ground school web sites.
I am not put off the IR by the flying time or hard work, but the ground school does seem time consuming and I cant see the relevance for us of knowing the colors on a an airbus FMS.
Do you have any sense when the ground school requirements might change for us. Would seem wise to wait if something is imminent.
