Virgin's consortium, including hedge fund Toscafund and US buyout specialist Wilbur Ross, would pay for £650m of the capital injection,
including £200m f
rom Virgin itself. The rest would come from a six-for-one rights issue of stock at 25p a share, which would leave Virgin owning 55pc of the company if shareholders take up all their rights.
