I recomend you not to pay, bring them court. You were offered a 6 months job with possible extension. That said, if they sac you, they are responsible for their investment in You. This is just outrageous, they have no right to do so. See if you can join a labour organization, they are probably reluctant to engage in a situation prior to joining, but you never know.
