Well if you want to move down that path we should really just call it all
Denmark, because we (yes I'm Danish) used to rule Norway, Sweden, Island, the Faroe Islands and Greenland too!

Danish is still spoken (taught in schools) in Island, Faroe and Greenland just to stick to the linguistic side of this thread.
BTW I got my R/T cert. in Norway which means I'm allowed to speak Norwegian or English on the radio. I'm sure the Norwegians would have a good laugh even if I tried my best in Norwegian
And back to topic.
It would really be for the common good if we could just speak the same language on the radio. English just happens to be wider spread in aviation which makes it the more logical choice in my opinion. Also the fact that French pilots and ATC already know how to speak the English language would ease the transition.
But if you can convince the rest of the world to change to French I myself will be more than happy to give it a go!
