I watched that too, and read this earlier..

I'm not sure what Parry means though, when he refers to this; "Obviously the MoD can’t blow its budget on this - it has other more urgent priorities. Where we come in is that we can help to raise the funds so our soldiers get really excellent facilities."

I wonder whats more urgent than looking after injured troops? We should be able to expect a decent level of service from the military and the g'ment, without having to depend on handouts from Currys for free MP3 players.

There are lots of good websites and causes already too. The Legion has done well at Headley, as have our less than glamourous mates on ARRSE (and us, and others). Given that the public 'give' to military charities is in decline, I wonder if another cause (however worthy) like this isn't going to slice up an already diminishing cake. I wonder if, before we start to blindly ask for yet more money from the public, we shouldn't be putting in place the right public perception of the Forces first. Its a long term task, and it wouldn't reap short term rewards or fixes. This is a good site. It asks for nothing.. it simply promotes what the ethos is about.. it provides a springboard.
