It might work, Gentlemen, but no matter what the name, all planes should be painted in the wellknown Gulf Air "golden zi**i"-scheme, to really put the branding through.
Also, GF/Akhbar, must physically divide their routes, not to end up like Scandinavian Airlines, who created a low-cost carrier called Snowflake...and ended up stealing customers from themselves.
Something like Lufthansa/Lufthansa Cityline ought to work.
In the end, it's all about burning the brand into peoples minds.

As a sidecomment, maybe it's time GF did a proper routeanalysis, and maybe leased in some CRJ/Avro RJ etc. to cover the light routes. Sending a B767 to DOH and back with 8-15 pax is a complete joke...eventhough it's wonderful to pass the Marriott at the end of the runway at 3500' and climbing...
