The PPL is a pilot licence with privileges restricted to private flying.

The aeroplane categories a PPL holder may fly are as defined in the Type and/or Class Ratings included in the licence.

A PPL with SEP(Land) Class Rating is what people usually mean by 'a PPL' - and remember that the SEP(Land) Class Rating has a 2 year validity period, whereas a PPL has a 5 year validity period at which point it must be re-issued in order for the Rating(s) included therein to remain valid....
