Pilots who fly for QantasLink have voted to take industrial action against their employer National Jet.

They voted to take action in support of their bid for a collective agreement to replace their individual contracts.

Rick Burton from the Transport Workers Union says the pilots are being forced by the company to accept lower pay.

He says the pilots will decide what action they will take in the next fortnight.

"We will be making an application that will allow us to take anything from four hour stoppages to eight hour stoppages," he said.

"We're going to go for the most effective way to make this company come and have negotiations with the TWU".

National Jet has issued a statement saying it does not expect its business to be affected.
