TWU’s patience runs

out with National Jet

Dear Member
National Jet Systems management has failed to respond to a TWU proposal that they begin negotiations with the union on a collective agreement to cover their pilots.

The proposal was put to the airlines WA Human Resource manager, Mary Kinsella (WA) and John Crawford from the airlines national office on July 12.

We outlined a range of members’ grievances and told the company we were speaking on behalf of over 100 NJS pilots who are now union members. We explained that the existing mish-mash of working conditions was creating widespread dissatisfaction and disturbing morale problems among their employees.

The NJS managers recognised our right to act as bargaining agents and indicated they would get back to us WITHING SEVEN DAYS after they had put our proposal to their top brass in Adelaide.

Since then we haven’t been paid the simple courtesy of a phone call and none of our calls or emails to them have been returned. We call that rudeness.

This has left us with no alternative other to step up our campaign for a fair deal for NJS pilots. It’s time to kick start the Jumbo.

Our Industrial & Legal Team has been asked to prepare the required paperwork needed to initiate protected industrial action. Pilots will be fully consulted before such action is taken and secret ballots will be part of the process.

Meetings of pilots are being planned for Perth, Darwin and Cairns. The logistics involved in getting as many pilots together are a bit complex but as soon as we know exact dates you will be notified.

The TWU firmly believes it is time to stop pussy footing around. Thecompany is not responding to sincere attempts by pilots and their union to sort out the airlines industrial relations shambles.

We call on all NJS members to seek the support of their fellow pilots in bringing this long drawn out saga to a conclusion. Your input, which we value greatly, can be channelled through Rick Burton 0417 914 108.

Or you can email Rick at: [email protected]

Yours in Unity
