Anyway..if the stats say LBA-JFK/DXB is possible with higher-end CF6s - isn't that probably sufficient for an embryonic long-haul programme for Jet2 from LBA??? Although I would say that Jet2 might be peeved not to be able to fly to Florida direct.
I've seen lots of bits about Jet2 committing to a long-haul programme from DSA....yes they've got the runway but I can't see it happening...if the LBA runway is a problem (which we know it is to a point) then surely MAN & NCL would be preferable in terms of building a market where they already have a presence.
