The guys who were there were the ones questioning his leadership style, getting into a huff about is just shows a clouded view IMO, whether you served 34 years or not. Not wishing to enter some pi**ing contest but I was around for a while too but can manage to be objective.
Some people refuse to hear a bad word about Bader but he was a sod - Monty made several serious tactical mistakes but his 'Old Boys' swear by him - personal loyalty is all well and good but doesn’t help when trying to draw lessons from the past.
