As a regular rotary wing zone crosser, I would agree that the Luton controllers are very helpful folk indeed (as are all the London area controllers).
However, sometimes it is obvious (from listening out on frequency for a minute or so before transmitting) that they are obviously under a daunting workload. In those instances I go round / under the airspace so as not to add to the bunfight!
