320JI not sure if you asking for car hire info? If not, then ignore this!

I do not know Washington but work on the following principle: If I do not know the area and do not have anyone local = use a mainstream brand. If I have local people = ask them to book a local company that they know. They will probably not have an on-airport garage but they will be cheaper.

The mainstream car hire groups are expensive but you know what you are getting and can usually get good support if the car breaks down. Actually, they tend to specialise in having modern fleets that are reliable - that is what you pay for. So I just pocket the frequent flyer miles and enjoy the service.

On a recent trip to Cape Town (which I know well and have local contacts) I found that the local car hire companies charged a big premium for international credit cards and some wanted cash deposits ...

Now back to hairyplanes.
