I have heard that "stand zero" has been binned due to cost, which is interesting because the government white paper on possible expansion over the next fifteen (?) years, showed a large cul-de-sac apron to the south of the terminal which included an area of stand zero. I wonder if the whole idea will be forgotten.
As tangoecho says there is word of making a proper stand seventeen and possibly eighteen which will leave virtually no gash parking available on Delta.
I hear there are plans to construct a new small apron between Charlie and Delta taxiways to take three small (J41?) type aircraft. Bussing will obviously be needed.
The Whisky taxiway reconstruction is taking place over ten weekends and could possibly cause problems/delays with the associated backtracks required.
As the apron is full in the morning, I hear that new business will possibly be turned away or forced to use later departure times.
Finally NATS will be providing a radar service at nights, starting later this year.
