Be very carefull taking the advice that some people are handing out here.
The low carb diet works in two ways - initially the diet causes you to become very dehydrated. Your body loses a lot of water and since water makes up 70% (?) of your body weight, the weight comes off quickly. Secondly, eating meat all the time becomes boring, and for that reason you are likely to eat less.
These two facts are the *only* advantages which a low carb diet has. The second may be worthwhile, if you currently eat to much, but neither represents a healthy diet.
The best strategy for dieting is to eat a moderate and varied diet (as many different foods as you can - vegetables, fruits, meat, pasta etc) and to be active, exercise. If you do these two things your body will settle nicely into it's optimally healthy, correct weight.
Remember, how healthy you are is more important than how slim you look.
