Should be good news for the QF Short Haul crew in PER...according to the FAAA...
"Base Transfers / Short Haul Cairns Base Start Up
On 26 June 2007 the Association met with the Company to discuss the possibility of further base transfers from Perth arising from the start up of a new Cairns base.
By way of back ground, as part of “suitable alternative employment arrangements” Australian Airlines crew were able to also express an interest for Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.
The Association obviously supports alternate employment as apposed to possible redundancies but also needed to consider the transfer list from the base of Perth. As such, we proposed to the Company that for each AO crew member offered Sydney or Melbourne one person to be transferred from Perth to the East Coast.
The Company has written to the Association accepting our proposal.
Therefore, the Association is pleased to advise of our in principle agreement with Qantas on this matter.
Details of how many transfers from the base of Perth to the East Coast will need to be finalised with the Company.
We will of cause keep you informed on this important matter. In particular, the numbers and time frame of Perth base transfers."
