The Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators is pleased to announce that the following scholarships have been awarded for 2007.
Flight Instructor (R) Rating: Aeroplane
The Air Safety Trust Diamond Jubilee Scholarship: Emma HendersonWith a BA in History, a City and Guilds in Interior Design, a globe-trotter and having project managed a house build, and a busy mother of 3, Emma received comments from the selection panel of “strong, capable and very impressive.”
The Benevolent Fund Instructor Scholarship: Steven MurphySteven spent many years in the RAF as an Airframe fitter. His plan is to become an instructor at Tayside Aviation.
The Norman Motley Scholarship: Robert SeamanRobert is a Senior Applied Scientist with The Meteorological Office (Defence) based in Exeter. He gained his PPL in 1998 and CPL in 2006.
Flight Instructor (R) Rating: Helicopter
The Weetabix Scholarship: Lee BurlingLee is a crew manager with Essex Fire and Rescue Service, and a kite surfing instructor. He gained his PPL(H) in 2005 and his CPL(H) earlier this year.
25 compliant applications were received for the three fixed-wing scholarships.
8 candidates were interviewed.
12 compliant applications were received for the helicopter scholarship.
3 candidates were interviewed.
