I'm sorry bitterness is not becoming, but yes I am bitter.
As longhaul permanent crew I'm not directly affected (yet) by the Zeal masquerading as Air NZ debacle, but I'm bitter on behalf of my colleagues who had the temerity to expect a decent (by no means excessive) wage in return for their hard day's work, and were replaced by the Zeal crew, who happily work for inferior pay and conditions.
A 20 year old purser with 18 months flying experience may be far more attractive than my older, less perky colleagues, but to have him in charge of an A320 with nearly 150 souls aboard in an emergency is not a flight I'd want to be on.
