I happen to personally know the "two CTC instructors" having trained with CTC in hamilton, and been thru their instrument rating training. The instrument training is almost identical to any other organisation... Come on, how many different ways are there to teach instrument flying?? What it comes back to is that the CTC boys were, dare I say, better pilots... Possibly due to the fact they do a heap of IF flying with the cadets, therefore being well prepared. And I don't understand how flying the twin-star could have upped their chances when compared to any other light twin. In fact their familiarity with the glass cockpit layout of the twin-star would have done quite the opposite once aboard the 1900, which as you all know is a fairly traditional layout.
