G'day fella's, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I have a few questions that I am hoping you may be able to shed some light on for me..
If any of you wish to pm me you are more than welcome, however answering on this open forum could be extremely beneficial for many of the curious, chasing slightly less brown pastures...
* Flyingspanner, you recommend avoiding positions of a grade less than E3. Would a LAE of approximately 15 years experience and only 2 company types holding full B1 only, be eligible to apply for a position of E3??
* What type of rosters are worked? On the ramp? In the hangar? Overtime??
* What would my take home monthly pay be as an E3? What allowances could I expect to receive? Type payments?etc..
* What is the standard of the company provided accommodation for an unmarried bloke with no kids? Furnished? Unfurnished? Am I going to be shuffled from apartment to apartment??
* What would my supervisory requirements be, in regards to the average number of mechanics I would be certifying for?? In the hangar? On the ramp? How do you blokes find their skill/language level? Do you have access to a "technical services" or "maintenance watch" type department of which can assist in defect rectification/deferral and troubleshooting??
* Is the availability of spares/tooling an issue?
* Flyingspanner you touched on the point of morale,or lack of it... Believe me mate, where I'm working at the moment I hear you.. If you could care to elaborate further... Is is a lack of career progression issue? No training?? Or the usual unrealistic timeframes vs skill base and managerial fiasco that one can expect to encounter at all operations??
* Last, but not least... I have read numerous posts within the "middle east" forum in relating to the the laws within the UAE, and this point of discussion seems to be a bit of a grey area.. but as an unmarried bloke, is it realistic to assume that I could be arrested when the girlfriend comes to visit whilst I'm living in Dubai?? I understand that this law is enforced "enthaustically" in the surrounding region, but within Dubai is it strongly policed?? How then do hotels cater for unmarried tourists??

I am well aware that this post is very longwinded to say the least, but any attempts from the EK boys answer these questions would be greatly appreciated. Cold ones all round...

Cheers..
