The fact that you reconsidered wouldn't have something to do with the fact that you would return to a job in a country that taxes you 50%+ would it? Wheras your income in Singapore is free from your home country's tax.
I am curious, with all the quality of life issues you raise, certainly you were able to obtain some additional benefits in exchange for your signature, no?
