i've absolutely no flying experience, and very little knowledge about the industry at all
...and you're applying for a position on one of the worlds most sought after and successful airline pilot training and placement schemes???

I need to ask why you didn't spend the time to learn about this industry before applying for the training scheme. Do you really know what your doing? Would you apply for an actors job whilst knowing that you're a shy git?

Go and have a few trial flying lessons (they cost £150 a shot). Brush up on your industry knowledge and about the airlines CTC work with because you will be quizzed at stage 3.

does anybody know of any way that i can help myself to understand what's being talked about?
The issue you have is not lack of information or methods to educate yourself, but time! It takes more than 2 weeks!!!
