It's not uncommon for traffic in to the LHR holds to call approach a few miles from the beacon saying they're doing high speed, having been approved by the TMA, only for approach to say enter the hold delay is x minutes.
It's not always the pilots at fault, depsite the fact TMA and approach have been sitting in the same room for over 10 years now we're not very well joined up at times.
