Fiscal Responsibility / Profit Sharing
It's a two edged sword. Just as the company has a responsibility to uphold a system that supports their advertised $7,000/month PPA, we as expat employees have a responsibility for our own finances. The company has no control over local rent increases. We had a choice when joining (knowing the contract is 5 years) to negotiate as long a rental lease as possible to protect ourselves against spikes in the market. Most landlords welcome 2+ year leases and the added benefit; the longer the lease, the lower the monthly rate.
Regarding profit sharing: to count on that every year to pay one's bills is irresponsible. Everyone knows that a profit sharing check is meant to satisfy a wife's NEEDS!
