I do agree with some of the previous posts.It make no difference if a little overweight,older,younger,male female etc however the standard of many new crew has noticably dropped. Certainly because all positions offered are casual and many quality applicants that would have applied previously are no longer interested.
Communication skills,a love of working with people and working in a team enviroment are areas that many new crew are lacking. I think also many are far too young and have yet to develop the skills required to handle many situations on board an aircraft [ especially in J/C on international sectors] where pax have spent thousands of dollars.
Not to say all full time crew are the cream of the crop either but sadly the bar is now much lower.
In saying this many new crew are fantastic and a joy to work with. Apoligies if my comments offend anyone.
