Baron Von M.....
When I was flying in West Africa in the late 90's I also came across the Big Scandanavian (Chris) and had more than a few beers with him in the Marlin Beach Hotel, and boy did he like beer in that hot climate! In fact happy hour (on a Thurs I seem to recall) was always the precursor to a trip up into the mountains to Club33 in Trinidade and more beer
The IHDC aircraft was a Reims Cessna F406 reg S9-IHD and used to fly mostly between Libreville, Sao Tome and Principe. The odd flight to Luanda, Accra and also Malabo and Bata were also done
The Russians who set up Air Cargo Sao Tome with a Let 410 UVP E included the boss Alexander and the one captain I remember was Andrei M. The aircraft was S9-CAL
The local Air Sao Tome Twotter was always on the other side of the apron when I was there and didnt get to meet the crew who used to do the same routes as the F406 i.e TMS-LBV-TMS and TMS-PCP-TMS.
The only other aircraft based there was the CASA of the Portugese Airforce
which didnt appear to do very much.
Ahhh happy days
