Vickers Viking 1B - G-AIVE crash, Irish Law, nr Largs, April 1948
On the evening of Wednesday 21 April 1948 a British European Airways Vickers Viking aircraft flight S200P out of Northolt bound for RenfrewAirport struck Irish Law in the North Ayrshire hills. Miraculously, all 20 passengers and crew on board escaped before the aircraft was consumed by flames. Today, substantial wreckage is still present on the windswept hillside. Dougie Martindale and myself are researching this maraculous incident with a view to publishing a substantial piece.
Already we have unearthed a substantial amount of information, however, we would be keen to hear from anyone in this forum who may have any further information.
