Open up the PC. Is the socket you plug your monitor cable into based on a card that is plugged into a brown slot, that is positioned next to a row of white slots? If so, remove the card in the brown socket (there will be a screw holding the card in, and possibly a strap at the other end!)and plug the new one in.. .If you plug your monitor into a socket which is close to where you plug your mouse and keyboard into, you probably have onboard graphics...still check you don't have a brown socket on the motherboard - however it is VERY unlikely that you have onboard graphics...if you could get the motherboard manual that came with the PC, it should be able to tell you whats what in there.. .Long story I am afraid, and if your motherboard has the AMD 751 northbridge you want to download the latest chipset drivers from AMD or the motherboard manufacturer site. If your motherboard has the VIA chipset download the latest VIA service pack (4 in 1)at www.viatech.com to make sure your new card will work! If you can find the motherboard manual that came with the pc and find the motherboard manufacturer and model, would be able to help you further. . .cheers
