AND NOW THERE IS A HIREING BAN ON
There is no hireing ban on, they just don't need to hire pilots at the moment. It that such an unheard of thing??
Air NZ is offering leave without pay, and is in talks with a few airlines about contracting some pilots to them because they have a excess of crew (mainly on the 767 fleet). Apparently they are talking with Emirates & ANA about this. And since Emirates seems to need so many pilots, why not?
Good opportunity for the NZ crew if it all works out, chance to experience life in Emirates but a way back to their job back here.
Whether it all works out this way is anyones guess....
