Mine does that too and I think it is due to an obscure CD it cannot recognise. It just seems to get stuck trying to identify unknown tracks - it doesn't remember that it has already tried and failed to identify them. I doubt that it is anything more sinister that that. . .. .You could always install something like Zone Alarm and tell it to refuse Media Player access to the internet.
