Dont agree IO. Despite working in a very demanding full time job, I got in over 100 hours serious X country VFR-only in my Pioneer 300 in 2006. Those XC's included 3 airfields in Ireland, 11 in France, 5 in Spain, 4 in Morocco, 2 in the Channel Isles, and 23 in the UK.
I really don't want to make I fight over this so I shall just say in 2006 I do 472hrs, these included 5 Spain, 31 CI, 2 Ireland, 1 Prague and to many other European destinations to count.
A bit of carefull planning will allow a good chunk of the VFR touring, being IFR just allows even more.
I REALLY do like the plastic hot ships, if they were IFR legal I would get one in a shot. Who would turn down high speed, economy and good looks for a 25yr old spam can?
