The Saudi government requires all OFWs to fly with their carrier! So instead of GMA making an issue of it... she just accepted it and allowed PAL to give up a very profitable route.
Look up Freedoms of the Air... it are the basic rules that govern international aviation laws.
eg.
The right to overfly a country without landing.
the 3rd law states:
The right to carry passengers or cargo from one's own country to another.
4th law:
The right to carry passengers or cargo from another country to one's own.
Third and fourth freedom rights are almost always granted simultaneously in
bilateral agreements between countries.
In GMA's infinate wisdom... she must have seen the advantage to the OFW taking a foreign carrier over a Filipino one. OIL maybe?
