You mentioned that you've got 2 Network Connections set up

1) 1394 connection /LAN/Connected,firewalled / 1394 Net Adapter
2) Local Area Connection / LAN / Connected, firewalled / Realtek RTL8139/810x family fast ethernet NIC
Are you sure that the 2nd one (Realtek RTL8139) is definitely set up for Auto DHCP, Auto DNS, nothing hard coded? And just to be sure, the first one too? No sign of the rogue 192.168.1.9 anywhere?
