I have a recently-installed 430 that came with the Terrain DB card occupying the right-hand slot in the face of the unit.
The start-up screen shows it to be a 2003 vintage.
Does your post mean there is a more recent Terrain DB available and if so, where did you find it? There's no mention of it on the Garmin Website or in the recent Flight Safety article
PilotHTR: Just cause there's a card in the right hand slot doesn't mean you have the terrain warning capability that the "terrain upgrade" gives.
Have you ever pulled the rt-hand card out? Mine was just a dummy!
If you have the Terrain Upgrade, as the GNS430 goes through its start up proceedure it should make mention of its terrain database version and display a disclaimer.
The TERRAIN page is in the NAV group of pages.
NAV Page 1 = CDI etc
NAV Page 2 = Map etc
NAV Page 3 = Terrain
Garmin avionics dealers can do it for you. Mine cost me about $600 incl installation.
Cheers
