Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the initial length of the contract and is it renewable?
Each customer has individual contracts ranging from three to five years. At the end of the contract period most pilots are offered renewals. We expect all our positions to provide long term employment.
2. What is the pay and benefits package?
The pay and benefit summary is provided along with the employment application.
3. If I am hired as a First Officer can I upgrade to a command position?
You will be expected to remain in the position for which you were hired at least until the end of the first contract. If you complete the first contract successfully and choose to remain with the company a command position may be offered for the second contract based on your qualifications.
4. How many times a year do you normally recruit?
There are normally three recruitment periods per year. Spring, Summer and Fall.
5. Why is the training period so long?
The first phase of your training is preparation for the aeronautical law and radio law exams. These are part of the requirement for the conversion of your license to the JCAB ATP and take approximately one month.
The second phase of training is aircraft ground school and simulator training. This portion usually takes about three to four months and is very similar to training you may have had at other carriers but not as compressed.
The third phase is actual line training and usually takes at least two months.
There are also periods allotted during the training for you to visit your home, usually at least one time.
6. What about LASIK surgery?
LASIK is not an approved procedure for pilots licensed in Japan. If you have had LASIK surgery it is an automatic disqualifier for the medical license.
