Air NZ engineers win US$3m contract from UK airline

Air New Zealand's engineering services division has won a US$3 million ($4.6m) contract for the installation of a new inflight entertainment system and heavy maintenance checks on nine Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
The contract was awarded by British airline Thomsonfly, which has a fleet of 47 aircraft, carrying more than eight million passengers a year.
The work will be carried out at the Air NZ's engineering services division's Auckland facility until May in preparation for Thomsonfly's summer schedule.
The first of the Boeing 767s was to arrive at the Auckland base tomorrow, Air NZ said today.
Heavy maintenance checks will be carried out on seven of the aircraft being sent to Auckland, while the latest Panasonic eFX Audio Visual on Demand inflight entertainment system will be installed on five aircraft.
