Hi C1052,

The thing was, Grp 1 pilots never expected much from the rumored raise before, even if there was talk that it might amount to a net increase of roughly $2000. With the recent productivity increase, people were pleasantly surprised.

Those who were rationalizing their decision to stay with the company are quite happy.

Those who have intentions of applying at Asiana are still quite intent on doing so, save for maybe, about 20% (for now) who have opted to discontinue their application.

I also know of A320 captains who've also discontinued (in the meantime) pursuing greener pastures, opting to test the new package (which comes this end of November).

Perhaps for the younger Grp 1 pilots, its a breather to reassess the situation. But the gap between Asiana and PAL pay is still quite significant. And the productivity pay is not constant, as you may well know. Plus, it wasn't placed with the basic salary so that the company wouldn't have to give a higher retirement pay.

You have to be able to fly 60 hrs to get the approximate increase. In the Airbus division, that's not a problem. But for the 744 and the soon to be abolished 737s, that's quite another story.
