Not sure what "legal help" you will get if you are negligent (i.e. mess up and weld two together) from the union.
If you are unhappy with the union let them know - and leave. Save yrself £15 per month and put it in an account marked "legal fund contingency" (or "Single ticket to Rio fund"!!)
We all have a choice.
