The $5,000 figure is net pay for wide body captains. And that computation is for flying 60 hours. Our A330 pilots fly more that that (90 to 100 hrs) so they earn more. Out here in PAL, the productivity pay will be more than our basic pay. PAL put it that way so that they do not have to pay big on retirement pay!!!! So expect to earn only half your usual pay when you go on vacation.
A lot of us are in a wait and see mode. I havn't talked to a lot of pilots yet but I guess no one will be leaving this year. I'll be spending christmas at home then start looking around once again as soon as the new year comes in.
Thanks to all the guys who left PAL. Without the pressure of PAL pilots resigning, we wouldn't have gotten this increase. It is still small but this would help those who still can't leave.
