Various Aviation Press are reporting that QR has confirmed that it has doubled the size of it's order for Boeing 777-300ER equipment, from an initial order for 20 planes to 40. AAB is quoted as saying that this quantity will be needed to service the airline's ambitious expansion plans.
He also stated that the Company (which was an all-Boeing operator up to 1997) is keen to have a mix of Boeings and Airbus in the fleet. The A350 order is also still live, he says.
The article also makes reference to various new routes being opened up during 2007: Dar es Salam (already publicly announced), Lagos (Nigeria), Bucharest (Romania), Sao Paolo (Brazil), Washington Dulles (USA).
There is also increasing speculation that both QR and EK are reviewing their orders for the A380, with many expecting that QR will cancel their order and EK will significantly reduce the size of their order (which currently stands at 45 planes).
